Chechen troops reportedly looted homes in the border village of Nova Tavolzhanka in Russia’s Belgorod region.
According to The Insider, citing Pepel, on April 9 men in vehicles labeled ‘Akhmat’ instead of license plates forced entry into houses and garages, taking generators and other valuables.
Witnesses say the men threatened residents with weapons, and one man who tried to film the incident was hit with a rifle butt.
The military police called to the scene were unable to intervene, as the looters ignored their demands.
According to local residents, the local administration and official channels have so far not responded to what is happening. People express concern about the presence of armed groups in the settlement, which, in their view, even the military police are afraid of.

This was also confirmed by several other residents of Nova Tavolzhanka who are currently living outside the settlement but remain in contact with former neighbors.
Looting in the border areas of the Belgorod region has been ongoing for more than a year, as previously noted by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. In 2025, he stated that he had received numerous complaints about homes being looted after residents fled shelling.
