Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s last Shah, has called on Iranians to be ready to resume nationwide protests against the country’s clerical rule. In a video address posted on his X social media account on Tuesday, Pahlavi stressed that the collapse of the Iranian regime was approaching. “Be ready. The moment to return to the streets will come: broader, more powerful, more determined than ever, for the liberation of Tehran, for the liberation of Iran. The continuation of this struggle until final victory,” Pahlavi said. The crown prince who has positioned himself as ready to rule Iran, said “we are closer than ever to the end of this regime. The regime has cracked. Its power had worn down. Its collapse has begun.” Addressing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Pahlavi accused him of being “anti-Iranian criminal” whose hands “are stained with the blood of tens of thousands of Iranians.” He threatened the Iranian authorities with a Nuremberg-city trial over the killing of anti-government protesters whose numbers exceed 12,000 according to multiple sources. Pahlavi said there would be no immunity for those involved in killing of protesters. “No crime goes unanswered. Your name has been recorded. The names of those who ordered. Those who carried out orders. And all of your accomplices. There is no escape. You will have nowhere to hide. The murderers of the people of Iran will have no immunity,” he went on saying. 65-year-old Pahlavi earlier asked the international community to put pressure on the Iranian government to help protesters to overthrow the clerical regime, stressing that he was ready to lead a transitional government. Anti-government protests in Iran started on December 28 following the collapse of the national currency and high inflation. The demonstrators soon spread to 180 cities with calls for the overthrow of the government. In early January, the exiled crown prince urged Iranians to continue protests, to capture city centers, calling on them to carry national flags, symbols, and images and to reclaim public spaces. Thousands took to the streets across Iran following Pahlavi’s remarks.
