Beijing Builds HIMARS and Taiwanese Weapons Mock-Ups for Strike Training

China is actively constructing full-scale mock-ups of Taiwanese weapons and equipment, as well as systems supplied to Taiwan by the United States.

Photos released by DD Geopolitics capture accurate replicas of Western and Taiwanese platforms.

They include the M142 HIMARS rocket system, the Thunderbolt-2000 MLRS, various Humvee variants, and the CM-32 Clouded Leopard infantry fighting vehicle.

In addition, mock-ups of other armored vehicles and launchers have been spotted at training grounds. The scale and variety of targets are increasing.

The construction of such mock-ups has been ongoing since at least mid-2024. However, the new models feature significantly higher detail and accuracy.

It was previously reported that China’s military uses mock-ups of American aircraft for training exercises.

Such systems allow Chinese forces to practice strikes on specific targets closely resembling those deployed on the island. In this way, Beijing is preparing for a scenario of rapidly disabling Taiwan’s key ground forces and U.S.-made platforms on the first day of a possible conflict.
