It has been three years since the establishment of the Belarusian Volunteer Corps, which was created as part of the "Timur" division of the main intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and fought against the invading Russian army. The Corps created in the Zaporozhzhia region was mainly joined by experienced soldiers who fought against the Russian army in Donbas in 2014, as well as Belarusian youth. In addition to this corps, there are Belorussian battalion "Terror", Belorussian regiment of Kalinovsk in the Ukrainian army.
Belarusian Volunteer Corps said: “From the moment of our creation to this day, not all who stood at the beginning or joined with time have come. Everyone made his contribution, sealing with his own blood, then with tears, the honor of our nation in the modern history of the Belarusian resistance.
Our struggle continues. Those who took the experience of the war of the past years are already passing it on to the new generation of the Belarusian nobility. We proudly carry the names of the fallen heroes of the war and pronounce them on the Day of Liberation of Belarus! Slava Ukraine! Belarus First of all!”
Recall, Ukraine’s armed forces are supported by several international units organized from nations and other groups who have suffered at the hands of the Kremlin. There are many volunteers who come from countries far from the fighting – educated professionals who could be living safe, comfortable lives at home, but chose to serve with and under the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. While there are many groups of Belarusian volunteers, this unit is integrated into and has received special forces-level training from Ukraine. They do not operate alone, instead acting as support elements for deep special forces raids, sabotage, and reconnaissance missions, as well as a number of teams conducting these operations themselves.
Recently, for one of these missions, Belarusians in the mortar unit of the volunteer corps modified and specialized their rounds for a specific purpose. Combining a napalm-like substance with thermite flakes, these incendiary shells were meant to burn away forest cover, force Russians out of their dugouts into the open, and create a massive, long-lasting distraction.
