Britain to Strengthen Its Air Force in Qatar with Four Typhoon Fighter Jets

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced the deployment of four additional Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets to Qatar.

He made the announcement during a briefing at Downing Street, commenting on the situation in the Middle East, according to Reuters.

According to Starmer, the aircraft will join the British squadron already deployed in Qatar.

The fighter jets are intended to strengthen the UK’s defense operations in the region.

The decision was made against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East and the conflict surrounding Iran.

The prime minister stressed that British forces had been deployed in the region even before the current escalation began.

According to him, London has the “right plan” to respond to the crisis.

At the same time, Britain’s cautious response to events in Iran and the drone attack on a British military base in Cyprus have drawn criticism from some of its allies.

In particular, US President Donald Trump said that Britain was not providing sufficient support for American strikes on Iran.

As a reminder, recently, one of the British Eurofighter Typhoons shot down an Iranian drone near Qatar.
