During the night of May 15, drones targeted a military airbase in Yeysk, in Russia’s Krasnodar region.
According to Astra, local residents reported hearing multiple explosions shortly after 1 a.m. and saw a fire near the military airbase.
Later, an OSINT analyst from Astra confirmed smoke from a fire near the military facility.
The photo published by a witness was taken about 1 kilometer from the perimeter of the military airbase.

The 859th Centre for Combat Application and Crew Training for Naval Aviation of Russian Naval Aviation is based at the Yeysk military airbase.

The city is home to the NITKA ground-based training and testing facility, an aviation system that simulates the deck of an aircraft carrier, used to train Russian carrier-based aviation pilots in takeoffs and landings.
The airbase is also used by Russian forces to base aircraft that carry out strikes against Ukrainian territory.
Strike on the terminal
It should be recalled that on the night of May 13, Ukrainian attack drones struck infrastructure at the Tamanneftegaz marine terminal in the port of Taman, in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.

The strike hit the connecting overpass located between berths No. 3 and No. 4. A tanker was also reportedly near the berth at the time of the attack and was in the process of being loaded with petroleum products.
The Port of Taman serves as one of Russia’s key maritime export hubs in the Black Sea region. Through it, the aggressor state exports significant volumes of oil and petroleum products.

This hub also handles flows of liquefied hydrocarbon gas, coal, and sulfur.
