The European Union’s top court has ruled that the process used to lift Carles Puigdemont’s parliamentary immunity was not impartial, ordering that his immunity be reinstated. Judges found a conflict of interest involving a Bulgarian MEP overseeing the procedure, due to political links with parties strongly opposed to the Catalan leader.
