Russia went underground to take Kupyansk, but Ukraine was waiting for them! Russian soldiers entered 15 kilometres of industrial pipes under the Oskil River and attempted to infiltrate the city on electric scooters. The Ukrainian army turned this line into a massive grave by filling the tunnels with water and explosives. The casualty ratio was 27 to 1.
In this video, we analyse the ‘Underground War’ in Kupyansk and Russia’s defeat:
SCOOTER TEAM: Why did Russian soldiers use electric scooters in narrow pipes?
DEATH TRAP: How did Ukraine fill the tunnels with water and gas?
27 TO 1 RATIO: Why were Russia’s losses so high in this operation?
LOGISTICAL COLLAPSE: How did Putin’s ‘Kupyansk Goat’ backfire on him?
This diagram shows a cross-section of the tunnel structure under the Oskil River, the Russian soldiers’ infiltration attempt, and Ukraine’s trap.
