France to Provide Ukraine with Additional Radar for SAMP/T Air Defense System During Main Radar Repair

France will send an additional radar to Ukraine for the SAMP/T air defense system.

Florence Parly, France’s Minister of Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs, announced this during a briefing in Kyiv, as reported by Ukrinform.

She added that France is actively working on repairing the equipment that is already being used by the Ukrainian military.

“We are working on this issue, including the repair of the radar for the SAMP/T, and we plan to provide a replacement radar while the current one is being repaired,” stated Parly.

Missiles for the SAMP/T Air Defense System

In addition to the maintenance of the systems, the French government is in continuous dialogue with the company MBDA, which is responsible for the production of the surface-to-air missiles.

Between 2024 and 2025, MBDA was able to double its missile production, which is crucial for ensuring the steady supply of air defense systems for Ukraine.

It is worth noting that France will deliver the first SAMP/T NG air defense system to Ukraine in 2026. Overall, Ukraine is set to receive eight systems as part of a new bilateral agreement with France signed in November.
