The Freedom of Russia Legion, comprised of Russian citizens fighting on the Ukrainian side, announced the beginning of a new phase of its operations: the unit is now carrying out combat missions at sea. Details and footage were published on the Legion’s official channel. In their address, the soldiers stated that for the first time in history, the Legion had begun naval operations using various unmanned technologies. According to them, the first tests have already been conducted , and the results provide grounds for speculating about the expansion of the war for Russian occupation forces.
" The Freedom of Russia Legion is beginning to carry out missions on high water. The first trials are already underway. Details will remain behind the scenes, but one thing is clear: the enemy can no longer feel safe even in places they previously considered themselves out of reach ," the statement reads. Legion representatives emphasized that their actions are aimed at destroying the illusion of security among Russian forces. " We’re developing, expanding our strike zone, and doing what the enemy isn’t prepared for. Not on land, not in the air, not at sea. The regime has no ‘safe’ areas left ," the fighters stated. The use of Russian volunteers in naval drone operations could mark a new stage in warfare, where cyber technology and autonomous systems are playing an increasingly important role. Thus, the Freedom of Russia Legion demonstrates that even after more than two years of full-scale war, Russia is losing not only territory and moral advantage, but also control over space it previously considered inaccessible.
Recently, Maximilian Andronnikov, deputy head of the Freedom of Russia Legion, spoke about the growing strength of Russian volunteers fighting Putinism. "We’re growing, we’re gaining combat experience. We’re becoming stronger politically. We’re becoming more visible within Russia, and that’s the most important thing, because our core strength lies deep within our homeland. Many of those people who can’t cross the Russian border are waiting for us. Everything will work out," he said.
"The number of such service members is constantly growing, " he said. " You know what happened to one of the Russian pilots after the attack on Okhmatdet. Everyone saw that it was a Russian Kh-101 air-to- ground missile that hit the children’s hospital . And it all became clear to everyone. Cases like this will become more and more common. I believe that not all Russian service members are complete degenerates, especially among the officer corps." Andronnikov also emphasized that the Legion does not seek out Russian military personnel to join its ranks. "They contact us themselves. We never write to anyone. I want to warn everyone in advance: if someone from the Legion writes to you, it means they’re not from the Legion. They’re either the FSB or other Putin security forces looking to earn another star," the Russian volunteer noted.
