Germany and ArianeGroup Negotiate to Develop Ballistic Missiles

European missile developer ArianeGroup is negotiating with the German government and other countries to develop land-based ballistic missiles.

These discussions took place ahead of the Munich Security Conference amid Europe’s growing need for deep strike capabilities, according to Hartpunkt.

According to the company’s director of defense programs, Vincent Peryi, the company is ready to develop systems with a range of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometers and more.

The company has already presented conceptual designs for tactical ballistic missiles called Missile Balistique Theatre (MBT) in single- and multi-stage versions.

It has significant experience in this field, as it manufactures French M51 intercontinental missiles for submarines. According to experts, the development of new weapons for European customers may take only a few years.

The German side is interested in accessing technologies and supply chains to avoid complete dependence on foreign partners. This issue will require coordination with the French government, as ArianeGroup is a joint venture between Airbus and Safran.

The company is currently exploring the possibility of launching rocket fuel production at one of its German facilities to support future projects.
