How a fake map “capture” paid out $1.3 million | Break The Fake

A fake frontline map update cost over $1.3 million – and no territory actually changed.
An unauthorized edit to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) Ukraine war map briefly showed Myrnohrad as captured. That was enough for a betting platform to pay out massive sums before the update vanished.

Days later, ISW admitted the edit was false, and the analyst behind it was removed.
No battlefield gains – just real financial losses.

In this episode of Break The Fake, Benjamin Lee exposes how easily war can be manipulated for profit.
