A fire near Omsk was reported on the morning of November 18. The glow from the fire was visible for several kilometers, and the sounds of the explosion were heard in neighboring villages.
Then, video from the scene of the incident emerged. It showed a huge column of fire blazing in a field near the fence. Telegram channel Shot , citing local residents, reported a gas explosion: “Residents of the village of Rostovka told Shot that they heard a powerful explosion in the Vrubelyovo neighborhood about 40 minutes ago. The glow from the intense fire was visible for several kilometers, and the loud sound was heard in neighboring villages. Preliminary reports indicate a gas explosion. Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene”.
The SuperOmsk publication added: “According to the latest data, gas is burning off at the site of the rupture. Four fire crews are on scene. Preliminary reports indicate a gas burst from a 50mm diameter pipe. The gas has been shut off, and the remaining gas is burning off. The nearest building is approximately 300 meters away.
Later, this information was confirmed on social media by the Governor of the Omsk Region, Vitaly Khotsenko: “A fire broke out in a field near the village of Rostovka in the Omsk District. According to preliminary reports, there are no casualties. One theory is that a gas leak occurred from a gas pipeline. Emergency services are working at the scene. Law enforcement is investigating the cause”.
The Omsk Region Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations later reported that the fire originated in a field near the village of Rostovka. Eighteen Ministry of Emergency Situations personnel, using four pieces of specialized equipment, are working at the scene. There were no injuries.
The governor’s social media posts updated the information, stating that the accident occurred on an underground section of a main gas pipeline branch.
