According to former U.S. Ambassador to Poland Daniel Fried, Ukraine is in the best position it has been in a year and not just because it will now receive the long-awaited €90 billion loan from the EU, but also due to the situation on the frontlines.
“If the U.S. and Europe were able to coordinate, which is a problem mainly on the U.S. side, the Russians would be in a very bad position,” former U.S. Ambassador to Poland Daniel Fried told TVP World.
But war in Iran occupies much of Washington’s focus, and the resulting fallout is pushing Europe into an energy crisis – another issue that Fried believes would benefit from greater transatlantic cooperation.
Join us as Ambassador Fried and his host, Maciej Mikos, try to answer key questions: should Europe take clearer leadership in diplomacy and appoint a single negotiator on Ukraine? Is Washington overstretching its negotiating capacity by handling multiple conflicts at once? And finally, can Russia realistically be brought to talks without sustained political pressure?
