Iran has attacked oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, Iranian media reported on Saturday. Video footage released online captures massive fire in an oil facility and plumes of thick smoke rising from the area. This comes after Iran launched unprecedented attacks on Israel and US allies in the Middle East, including locations in Saudi Arabia in retaliation to US and Israeli airstrikes on Saturday night. Saudi officials have condemned Iranian strikes on bases in Riyadh and other Gulf countries as violations of sovereignty. US airbase in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi have also been hit, while Qatar reported explosions in its territory. US President Donald Trump earlier pledged the US airstrikes would obliterate Iran’s nuclear program and destroy the country’s military. Israel said Iranian senior officials were the main target. Earlier it was reported that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s compound was destroyed in the Israeli air strike on the country. A satellite image showed Khamenei’s destroyed compound in Tehran as well as dark plumes of smoke over the facility. Israeli sources have stated that the strikes on Iran targeted Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other senior Iranian figures, including armed forces Chief of Staff Sayyid Abdolrahim Mousavi, President Masoud Pezeshkian, among others. Among other targets are the secretary of Iran’s newly established Defence Council, Ali Shamkhani, and the secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, Ali Larijani. This comes hours after the US and Israel launched joint air strikes across Iran.
