In recent weeks, Belarus has increasingly found itself caught in the spillover of the war in Ukraine. Multiple drone incursions originating from both Russian and Ukrainian territory have been recorded in Belarusian airspace, exposing the country’s growing vulnerability to a conflict it officially claims to be staying out of.
In response, Belarusian authorities have begun reinforcing defenses around strategic infrastructure, including the deployment of air defense systems near the Gomel oil refinery. While Minsk avoids direct involvement, preparations suggest that the war is no longer a distant threat and is approaching Belarus itself.
