Marcin Zaborowski, Europe Editor at TVP World, joined us today to explain Ukraine’s new 20-point peace plan, reduced from the initial 28 after talks with European leaders. Zaborowski said the cuts removed anything that looked like territorial concessions or limits on Ukraine’s army.
He also argued that Zelensky’s readiness to hold elections shows openness to compromise, but Russia still aims to control territory, making real peace distant. France, Germany, and the U.K. played a major role in shaping the proposal before it heads to Washington.
Zaborowski added that NATO membership for Ukraine is no longer realistic, so real security would require European troops stationed in the country. Europe’s defense industry can’t yet replace U.S. support, though Poland is rapidly expanding production.
On reconstruction, Zaborowski said frozen Russian assets in Europe should fund Ukraine’s recovery – and he doubted Trump’s idea of sharing that money with Russia.
