Following trilateral peace talks between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia in Abu Dhabi, a second meeting between the countries is expected next week.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine are “100% ready” and awaiting a date and location for signing.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to strike Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and residential areas, leaving around 80 percent of the country affected by power outages as temperatures drop to as low as minus 16 degrees. Support for Ukraine continues, with Poland delivering generators to Kyiv as part of the “Warmth from Poland for Kyiv” fundraiser, and Germany urging Europe and NATO to increase pressure on Russia and expand support for Ukraine.
Separately, the European Union approved a legally binding ban on Russian gas imports, committing to a full phase-out by the end of 2027 to cut a major source of funding for the Kremlin’s war effort.
