Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has been accused by Kremlin officials of sabotage after his conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio disrupted a planned meeting between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Budapest. The Russian Telegram channel "Nezygar" reported this, citing sources.
According to them, after the summit was cancelled, Putin had a "serious conversation" with Lavrov, and some officials believe the minister committed sabotage. "Lavrov is clearly depressed right now; he’s found himself at the epicenter of intrigue ," the channel quotes one of its sources as saying. According to the source, many are now convinced that Lavrov is following in the footsteps of Sergei Shoigu, who lost his post as head of the Russian Ministry of Defense last May. The interlocutor adds that Lavrov has lost the favor of the head of the Kremlin regime and now appears as a weak element. Meanwhile, the foreign ministry of the aggressor country is now forced to make public leaks, proving its innocence in the disruption of the meeting between Putin and Trump. The channel writes that Lavrov, taking a tough stance in his conversation with Rubio, thought he was expressing Putin’s position, but this allegedly turned out to be wrong. "But Lavrov managed to discredit the Dmitriev-Witkoff communication channel in the eyes of Rubio and Trump ," the report said. The subsequent urgent visit by Kremlin special envoy Kirill Dmitriev to Washington proved a failure and did not help rectify the situation.

Lavrov was absent from the meeting of the Russian Security Council, where Putin instructed it to consider the resumption of nuclear testing. He was the only permanent member of the Security Council absent from the meeting." The White House recently stated that "Lavrov is clearly tired."
The Kremlin then dealt another blow: Lavrov was stripped of his position as head of the Russian delegation to the G20 summit.
