The Christmas tree lighting in Łódź did not go as planned. Thousands gathered in the city’s main square, but the lights failed to turn on during the first countdown. Or the second. Or the third. Even the fourth attempt failed, prompting laughter and then boos from the crowd.
The tree finally lit up on the fifth try, and videos of the moment quickly spread online. The city’s deputy mayor apologized and blamed the mishap on the weather, saying electricity “flows a bit slower” in such conditions, which fueled even more online jokes.
