In this episode of Ukraine This Week, we were joined by Mariia Ionova, Ukrainian MP from the European Solidarity party. Mariia warned that Russian aggression is still brutal, highlighting the record number of drone attacks in March and their devastating impact on civilians and infrastructure.
She emphasized the urgent need for sustained international pressure on Russia, including sanctions and targeted strikes on energy and oil production. “We have to hit Russia where it hurts most: its oil and gas.” Ionova also discussed Ukraine’s strategic military capabilities, saying, “We need faster weapons delivery and stronger domestic production,” while stressing the importance of global partnerships.
At the end of the conversation, we also discussed Ukraine’s political and economic hurdles at home, including budgetary concerns and parliamentary negotiations.
