A military drone was discovered in northeastern Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, about 20 kilometers from the border with Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast.
According to Polsat News, the drone was found in a field near the town of Osieka.
Poland’s Military Gendarmerie said initial inspections suggest the drone is military-grade and may have been used for aerial reconnaissance.
Investigators have not found any weapons or explosives on board, but Cyrillic writing was visible on the drone’s корпус. Journalists reported that the aircraft was equipped with one or more cameras.
The case is being investigated by the military prosecutor’s office in Olsztyn. Polish authorities are trying to determine where the drone came from and how it appeared near the Russian border.
The discovery comes after several recent drone incidents in Poland. On September 10, 2025, Russian drones entered Polish airspace during a massive attack on Ukraine, prompting Poland and the Netherlands to scramble fighter jets.
Since then, debris and suspected drones linked to that attack have been found across Poland. Authorities say a total of 21 drones connected to the September 10 incident have been discovered so far.
In another case, an unidentified aerial vehicle that entered Poland from the direction of Belarus was found in November 2025.
It was later revealed that the drone had been used for cigarette smuggling, and authorities failed to detect the flight in advance.
Militarnyi previously reported that on March 12, 2026, an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle was discovered at a lignite coal mine in the village of Gałczyce in Poland’s Greater Poland Voivodeship.
According to unofficial information from Krzysztof Zasada of RMF FM, the drone found in Gałczyce resembled the Russian Gerbera drone in its characteristics. This drone model had previously appeared in official reports by the Polish military following earlier attacks.
