Video has emerged in social media, featuring a Ukrainian drone strike on a Russian BK-16 landing craft near the occupied Crimean Peninsula. The strike targeting the amphibious assault boat was launched by “Ghosts” special unit of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine on February 12. The footage captures the overnight precision strike that was followed by an explosion. Being a Russian high-speed transport and landing boat, BK-16 was built to deploy naval infantry and support special operations missions. Developed by the Kalashnikov Concern, it is capable of carrying up to 19 personnel, including its crew. The General Staff described the BK-16 as “successfully hit” and stressed that it would continue strikes on Russian military facilities. The Pantsir-S1 air defence system, the Nebo-U radar and the Project 02510 BK-16 landing craft also came under Ukrainian attack in Crimea over the past week. It’s worth noting that Ukraine has scaled up strikes on Russian military targets in occupied parts of Ukraine and deep Russia. Kyiv has carried out a range of attacks on Russian vessels and maritime targets as part of its broader strategy to weaken Moscow’s war effort and force economic pressure on Russia. In late 2025, Kyiv’s forces stepped up strikes against what it describes as Russia’s “shadow fleet,” a group of oil tankers and cargo ships believed to be used to circumvent international sanctions and ship Russian crude and fuel abroad. Ukrainian naval sea drones struck and disabled multiple sanctioned tankers in the Black Sea, including Gambian-flagged vessels such as the Kairos and Virat, which were reportedly empty at the time and linked to the shadow fleet’s oil-export operations. Ukraine has increasingly carried out strikes inside Russian territory, using drones and other long-range weapons to hit infrastructure and military targets deep behind the frontline. In recent weeks Kyiv reported a significant drone attack on the port of Taman in Russia’s Krasnodar region, where Ukrainian drones ignited fires and damaged oil storage facilities, warehouses and terminal infrastructure, injuring civilians and disrupting operations
