Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the G20 Foreign Ministers meeting on Thursday, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
According to Associated Press in a statement to members of the meeting, he accused NATO and the European Union of declaring war on Russia.
"A clear example is the crisis provoked by the collective West in Ukraine, through which NATO and the European Union want to declare, and have already declared, a real war on my country and are directly participating in it," Lavrov stressed.
He also spoke of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, highlighting that the Israel’s war has already claimed the lives of 65,000 people, but that some and some UN officials say "that there are estimates indicating that the number of victims is 10 times higher."
Also speaking in the meeting, was the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, who accused Russia of various actions that contradict the G20 South African presidency’s commitment to sustainable development, including sabotaging global food supply chains and spreading disinformation.
"During its war on Ukraine, Russia has sabotaged global food supply chains, accelerated ecological disasters and spread disinformation, including at the highest level in international fora like this," Kallas said.
During his visit to New York, Lavrov held meetings with the Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani, and the President of Bolivia Luis Arce.
