On the night between October 18 and 19, strike drones successfully attacked the Orenburg gas processing plant.
The Astra news outlet reported on this.
According to published photos, the drone attack caused a large fire to break out on the plant’s premises.
The attack on the plant was also officially confirmed by local authorities, including the regional governor Yevgeny Solntsev, who reported partial damage to the facility’s infrastructure, emphasizing that one of the workshops had caught fire. At the same time, an air raid alert was declared in the region due to the threat of drones.
The plant is one of the largest natural gas processing enterprises in Russia and is part of the Gazprom company. It is located at least 1,000 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border, although actual drone launches are usually executed from even greater distances.
The plant’s maximum stated processing capacity for natural gas is about 40–45 billion cubic meters per year. Its product range includes the processing of natural gas, gas condensate, and oil, as well as the production of commercial dry gas, stabilized gas condensate, sulfur, liquefied gases, butane-propane, and odorants.
Militarnyi previously reported that drones from the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine attacked the Orenburg Helium Plant on August 11.
