Poland to Create Drone Fleet With Support From Ukraine and EU

Poland and Ukraine have announced a joint project to create a so-called drone fleet, which will combine Polish funding with Ukrainian expertise.

The initiative was presented in Rzeszów during the Road to URC conference by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The European Defense Fund is also expected to be involved in the project, according to Defence24.

Donald Tusk noted that Ukraine, which has been repelling the Russian invasion for many months, has gained unique experience in the field of air defense and countering air attacks.

According to him, this experience should become part of Poland’s defense expertise and practical capabilities for protecting its airspace.

He stated that the Polish drone fleet project will be developed on the basis of joint European and national funding, as well as Ukrainian technological expertise.

“It is with great pleasure that I can announce today that the Polish plan to create a drone armada also involves utilizing the technical ideas and expertise in the field of drones from our Ukrainian friends,” Tusk said.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko highlighted the significant transformation of the Ukrainian defense sector, which has developed substantially since the start of the war and has become one of the state’s key elements.

According to her, the country, which initially received aid from abroad, is now capable of creating cutting-edge military solutions on its own.

In her view, cooperation with Poland can benefit both sides—both in the field of security and in the development of the defense industry and new economic projects.

Svyrydenko noted that Poland is one of Ukraine’s most important partners and a country that has provided significant support since the start of the war.

In Poland, the WB Group is actively involved in drone development and has also launched production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine.
