Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday chaired a meeting on the development of Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine. According to Associated Press Putin said that more than 5,000 kilometres of roads had been built or repaired in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia regions and Crimea that would "additionally connect all these regions, more tightly integrate them into the country’s transport network". "We need to fully reveal at a new stage and realise this enormous potential, ensure the powerful relaunch and development of the economy of our historical regions," he told officials at the meeting. "The main thing is that people see changes for the better, come back home to their native land, work and study, bring up children and make plans for the future." he added. His comments come less than 48 hours after Russia launched its biggest combined aerial attack against Ukraine over the weekend, Ukrainian officials said, in an escalating bombing campaign that has further dashed hopes for a breakthrough in peace efforts.
