Between June 1 and June 4, 2025, Ukraine carried out a series of devastating attacks against Russian targets, in what many analysts are calling the worst week of the war for Russia. Operation Spider’s Web used 117 drones to strike five airbases, reportedly destroying over 40 aircraft worth $7 billion. Two days later, an underwater demolition hit the Kerch Bridge, a key logistics route, causing serious structural damage.
In the same period, Ukraine’s cyberintelligence units leaked over 4.4GB of sensitive data from Russian defense firm Tupolev, while a partisan group derailed a military train in occupied Zaporizhia. A top Russian commander involved in the Mariupol strikes, Zaur Gurtsiev, also died in an explosion. A report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies estimates Russia may exceed one million total casualties by mid-summer, as its military, infrastructure, and economy continue to deteriorate under sustained pressure.
