Concentration of Russian troops in Ukraine’s southeastern Zaporizhzhia region is reportedly down to about a third compared to six months ago. Russian troops are systematically withdrawing from Charivne and Hulyaypo in Zaporizhzhia. The move comes as heavy fighting continues in the south of Ukraine, with most intense areas being Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumy and Kupyansk directions. In recent days and over the past week, Russian military-affiliated sources have claimed a noticeable uptick in drone activity, renewed offensive momentum in several sectors, and mounting pressure on Ukrainian defensive positions across multiple stretches of the front simultaneously. On the western side of the Zaporizhzhia front, heavy head-on fighting continues around Stepnohirsk and Prymorske. Meanwhile, on the eastern flank, Russian forces are reportedly pushing against Ukrainian defenses along a broad line stretching from Charivne and Huliaipole toward Rozhdestvenske. Along this corridor, they are said to be consistently targeting Ukrainian positions in the immediate rear. Ukrainian troops, for their part, have not launched large-scale counter offensives, instead relying on reconnaissance and sabotage units while regrouping and replenishing losses. Russian forces stepped up their offensive activity in the Zaporizhzhia sector, though these efforts did not result in any territorial gains this week, according to the Institute for the Study of War, ISW. According to their report, Russian troops launched assaults around the Huliaipole axis, with combat activity and shelling observed near Olenokostiantynivka, Zelene, Pryluky, Tsvitkove, and Sviatopetrivka, as well as toward Verkhniya Tersa. Clashes also persisted in the vicinity of Zaliznychne, Hirke, and Charivne. In addition, Russian forces carried out attacks along the Orikhiv line, targeting areas such as Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Stepove, Shcherbaky, and Stepnohirsk. Despite these operations, there were no confirmed advances. ISW analysts further note that Russian command is redeploying reserve units to the western part of the Zaporizhzhia region. At the same time, they are bolstering air defense systems and increasing drone usage in response to ongoing strikes by Ukrainian forces. Over the last 24 hours, Russian forces also pressed attacks along the Robotyne–Verbove axis. Elements of the 1430th Guards Regiment, part of the 58th Guards Combined Arms Army, reportedly engaged and defeated Ukrainian units south of Orikhiv. In the Orikhiv direction, units from the Dnipro Group of Forces report no significant shifts in the line of contact, with largely positional fighting ongoing near Prymorske and Stepnohirsk. The airspace above the battlefield remains crowded with both reconnaissance and strike drones. Russian artillery, aviation, and drone units are described as operating in close coordination to suppress Ukrainian forces, striking both frontline positions and rear staging areas where personnel and equipment are concentrated. Over the course of the past week, the Dnipro Group claims to have made incremental tactical gains. According to these reports, they inflicted losses on multiple Ukrainian formations, including mechanized, mountain assault, and marine brigades, as well as territorial defense units. Russian sources estimate Ukrainian losses during this period at up to 395 personnel, along with several armored vehicles, dozens of transport vehicles, and a field artillery system. They also report the destruction of numerous electronic warfare and counter-battery systems, as well as ammunition, fuel, and logistics depots.
