Russia has lost $7 billion in oil revenues due to Ukraine’s drone attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Friday, while commenting on strikes against Russian oil facilities and promises more attacks. Zelenskiy published a video footage in social media showing the aftermath of strikes on oil infrastructure facilities in Tuapse, Perm, and Novorossiysk. Zelenskiy said long-range attacks on Russia in April, reached a new level in three components – in term of reducing Russian oil revenues, the range, and the intensity of the sanctions. “What matters is not only that the target itself is hit, as defined by the combat mission, but also that the downtime of the facility increases or, at the very least, its operations are significantly reduced,” Zelensky wrote on social media. According to the Ukrainian president, the damage caused by these “targeted sanctions” — meaning drone strikes — amounts to billions of dollars. “By the most conservative estimates, the aggressor state has lost at least $7 billion since the beginning of the year solely as a direct result of our targeted sanctions against the Russian oil industry and refining sector: from successful strikes, downtime, and shipment delays,” he stated. After thanking the soldiers of Ukraine’s Defense Forces “who, together with the SBU and our intelligence services, are delivering these results,” Volodymyr Zelensky pledged to “expand the use of our long-range systems.” “We are preparing decisions,” Zelensky announced regarding future steps aimed at minimizing oil revenue flowing into the Russian budget. Before the Ukrainian president’s statement, the SBU confirmed the fourth wave of strikes on Tuapse oil refinery at the Black Sea in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region. The refinery was hit for the fourth time on Friday, the fourth time over the past two weeks.
