Russia Presents New RUS-PE Loitering Munition

The Russians have presented a new RUS-PE loitering munition.

The Kalashnikov Concern reported on this.

The system will be publicly demonstrated at the World Defense Show, an international defense exhibition to be held in Riyadh from February 8 to 12.

The development is positioned as an export product, primarily targeting Middle Eastern countries.

“The system is designed for high-precision engagement of single and group targets, including moving targets, using a guided munition,” TASS reported.

What is known about RUS-PE Loitering Munition

Target engagement is conducted using a munition launched from a man-portable transport-and-launch container equipped with a pneumatic launch system.

The strike UAV is built in an X-shaped aerodynamic configuration and is equipped with a warhead, a guidance and control system, and a seeker (homing) head.

According to the agency, “the seeker head enables employment of the munition in autonomous, semi-autonomous, and manual modes.”

TASS also reports that RUS-PE is designed to support several warhead versions, including options weighing approximately 1 kg and 2 kg.

“A dual-channel gyrostabilized electro-optical system provides automatic target detection and identification using elements of artificial intelligence,” the developers stated.

The declared endurance of the new Russian loitering munition is up to 30 minutes, with a cruise speed of approximately 140 km/h.

As previously reported, at the IDEX-2025 international defense exhibition, held in 2025 in Abu Dhabi, a Russian UAV manufacturer announced the emergence of a new version of the well-known Russian Forpost UAV, equipped with a radar for surveillance of enemy assets and target designation for military units.
