Russian Air Defense Missile Strikes Residential Building in Stary Oskol, Belgorod Region

A Russian surface-to-air missile struck a multi-story residential building in Stary Oskol, Belgorod region.

The local Pepel ➜ Belgorod Telegram channel shared the video of the incident.

Meanwhile, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the region’s governor, clarified that the explosion was caused by debris from a downed drone.

This incident took place on the night of October 7, when Russia’s air defense attempted to repel a drone attack on the Belgorod region.

Exclusive footage from the local Telegram channel shows that the surface-to-air missile detonated near the residential building, creating a cloud of debris during the explosion of its warhead.

It is noted that at the time of the explosion, no drones were in the vicinity of the high-rise building – the video only shows the light from the missile as it flies toward the city of Stary Oskol before the blast.

Subsequently, Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that the windows of 15 apartments in the building and 20 cars in the parking lot were damaged by “debris from a downed UAV,” a claim that clearly appears to be false.
