The Syrian Democratic Forces deployed more forces on the frontlines with government forces at the entry gate to the city of Hassakeh in northeast Syria Saturday. According to Associated Press tens of Humvees and other military vehicles were seen parading by the Panorama Roundabout on the main road that connects Hassakeh to al Shaddadi. The empty road has become the frontline between the fighting parties. “We have our forces deployed all around here and the comrades have high morale," said Dilo Doman, a Kurdish volunteer from Germany. "As far as it takes, we will not attack, but they might attack.” Hours after the expiration of the four-day truce between the Syrian government and Kurdish-led fighters Saturday, Syria’s defense ministry announced an extra 15 day extension. The defense ministry said in a statement that the extension was in support of an operation by U.S. forces to transfer accused Islamic State militants who had been held in prisons in northeastern Syria to detention centres in Iraq. Over the past three weeks, there have been intense clashes between government forces and the SDF, in which the SDF lost large parts of the area they once controlled.
