Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a small missile ship and a minesweeper at the Russia’s Kaspiysk base.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the strikes on the fleet were carried out on the night of May 15. The consequences of the damage to the ships of the Russian Caspian Flotilla are being assessed.
In 2020, the Kaspiysk base became the main base of Russia’s Caspian Flotilla.
The fleet’s ship complement includes, in particular, small missile ships of Projects 21630 Buyan, 21631 Buyan-M, and 22800 Karakurt, as well as missile boats of Project 12418 Molniya. The flotilla also includes minehunters of various projects.

These are not the first strikes against the Russian fleet in the Caspian Sea.
On the night of May 7, drones struck a small missile ship of Project 22800 Karakurt. The vessel is capable of carrying Kalibr cruise missiles.

In addition, the Ukrainian military is striking oil platforms belonging to the Russian company Lukoil in the Caspian Sea.
