A 19-year-old driver traveling toward Zamość in eastern Poland struck a teenage girl who was crossing the street at a marked crosswalk.
The 16-year-old was injured and taken to a hospital in Tomaszów Lubelski.
The driver was sober at the time of the incident.
The case is being investigated by the Country Police Department in Tomaszów Lubelski.
The police published the video as a warning. They are appealing to both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and responsibility.
Drivers approaching a marked pedestrian crossing are required to exercise special caution, slow down, and observe their surroundings to avoid endangering pedestrians crossing the street.
The police also remind pedestrians that current road conditions can be difficult and that braking distances can be longer. Pedestrians should not step onto the road if they are not certain that a vehicle will stop before the crossing.
