The General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces has denied reports of Russia’s capture of Dachne village Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region. In a statement published on Wednesday, the General Staff described as a “staged propaganda” the videos circulated on Russian Telegram channels that show Russian troops allegedly capturing dugouts in Dachne and raising a Russian flag. The General Staff acknowledged that Russian troops briefly entered the village, adding that they were eliminated shortly afterwards. “The adversary managed to snap a photo with a Russian tricolor, but that was their last activity. Ukrainian soldiers destroyed the invaders. The reports of Russian propaganda about securing a bridgehead in the Dnipropetrovsk region do not correspond to reality. Dachne remains under the control of Ukraine’s Defense Forces,” the statement concluded. The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence directorate, Kyrylo Budano, confirmed that the fighting along the southeastern edge Dnipropetrovsk region was underway, but noted that this has been the case for “quite a long time” and that there was no threat to the city of Dnipro other than drone and missile attacks. The Ukrainian open-source intelligence group DeepState reported that Russia is attempting to create a “gray zone” along regional borders. Despite increased drone activity in the area, Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, stated that “no breakthrough” had occurred. Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the “Khortytsia” operational-strategic group, noted that intense fighting continues in border villages such as Yalta, Komar, and Shevchenkove, but confirmed that Ukrainian forces are maintaining their defensive positions.
