Our main stories today:
– U.S. President Donald Trump stands firm on Iran, setting a hard Tuesday deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or else face intensified U.S. strikes on its infrastructure. Trump has warned that if the vital oil chokepoint isn’t opened by then, critical facilities like power plants and bridges could be targeted.
– As Hungary’s election campaign heats up, so does controversy, this time over an alleged plot to sabotage a key gas pipeline. Opposition leader Péter Magyar warns that Prime Minister Victor Orbán could be staging a provocation to influence the vote, a claim the government strongly denies.
– Ukraine is stepping up its military strikes behind enemy lines. Kyiv says its forces struck a Russian warship in the port of Novorossiysk as well as a drilling rig in the Black Sea near occupied Crimea overnight.
