Turkish E-7T AEW&C Aircraft Patrolled Baltic Airspace After Russian Provocations

A Turkish E-7T early warning and control aircraft patrolled the Baltic states after Russian military aircraft invaded their airspace.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

This information was initially reported to the publication by unnamed Turkish officials and later confirmed by the country’s Ministry of Defense.

One of the Turkish AEW&C aircraft was sent to Lithuania on Monday, September 22nd. It is capable of detecting aircraft and drones flying at low altitudes that may not be detected by ground-based radars.

According to the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey, the E-7T aircraft’s mission lasted until Thursday, September 25th, as part of support for NATO allies in the region.

The deployment of the AEW&C aircraft took place amid attempts by the members of the North Atlantic Alliance to coordinate a response to the incursion of Russian aircraft and drones into the airspace of the Baltic states.

On September 25th, a pair of Hungarian JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets took off from an airbase in Lithuania to intercept Russian Su-30, Su-35, and three MiG-31 aircraft that had approached the Baltic country’s airspace. The Russians were flying in international airspace without radio communication and did not submit a flight plan.
