The United Kingdom is exploring the possibility of joining U.S. arms procurement efforts to support Ukraine.
According to a source familiar with the matter, who spoke to Bloomberg, talks are currently in the early stages between the UK, the United States, and several European countries.
No final decision has been made yet, as discussions continue to evolve.
“We are collaborating closely with our allies to deliver the necessary forces and equipment,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer told reporters during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. “We’re also focused on providing the support needed to ensure that these forces and equipment are truly effective on the ground in Ukraine.”
When asked about the UK’s potential involvement in Donald Trump’s plan to supply Patriot missiles to Ukraine via sales to European allies, Starmer responded thoughtfully.
Previously, Trump announced an agreement between the U.S. and NATO, under which the procurement and supply of American weapons for Ukraine would be financed by European allies.
Additionally, he announced the dispatch of extra Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine.
