Ukraine Develops 105mm Towed Howitzer, Now Undergoing Tests

Ukraine is currently testing a new domestically developed 105mm towed howitzer.

Colonel Andrii Zhuravlov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Missile Forces and Artillery Command of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, disclosed this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

It remains unclear whether the system is an entirely new design or based on the British L119 howitzer.

105mm howitzers are effective against enemy personnel and lightly armored vehicles in open terrain.

Such systems can be towed by light vehicles – including Humvee armored vehicles, as well as Ukraine’s Novator and Kozak armored vehicles.

In October, it was announced that Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a project agreement on the joint production of artillery.

Although the Minister of Defense did not specify which type of artillery would be produced, it is likely to involve light 105-mm L119 howitzers.
