The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has tested a new generation of FPV drones and introduced a separate testing methodology for each drone type. This should ensure faster delivery of effective technologies to the army.
Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this.
During the tests, the drones covered distances of up to 25 km and hit targets under interference from various types of electronic warfare. Some of the samples fully completed the assigned tasks in conditions as close as possible to combat.
Serhiy Sternenko, advisor on the effectiveness of unmanned systems, is also involved in the development of this product.
At the same time, the technical characteristics of the new drones are not disclosed.
According to the Minister, the approach to defining requirements has also changed: 80% of resources are allocated to proven solutions whose effectiveness has been confirmed on the battlefield, while another 20% go to new technologies.
At the same time, regular product testing has been introduced in cooperation with the Brave1 cluster.
All manufacturers are involved in testing, including those whose developments do not yet have government contracts. If a drone proves its effectiveness under combat conditions, the contracting and production scaling procedure is initiated immediately.
A new type of FPV drone has already been tested using this model.
It was previously reported that the Defense Procurement Agency is introducing an advance payment mechanism for drone manufacturers within the DOT-Chain Defence system.
Verified companies will receive an advance payment for the prompt purchase of components and the launch of production before the actual delivery of products. This solution should reduce delays, including in cases where the manufacturer does not have sufficient finished-product inventory.
