Lasar’s Group of the National Guard of Ukraine has thwarted Russian assaults in two directions of the eastern frontline, inflicting losses on Russians and destroying three Russian tanks with drone and artillery strikes. Russian troops attempted to launch mechanized assaults on the positions of Ukrainian Defense Forces in the direction of Novopavlivka and Dobropillia settlements in eastern Dnipropetrovsk region in late January. Combat video of the operation shared in social media captures overnight precision strikes at Russian targets. The attacks were repelled thanks to the crews of the OZZSP Lasar’s Group, jointly with fellow soldiers from adjacent units. The offensives took place within the areas of responsibility of the 1st NGU Corps “Azov” and the 9th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Ground Forces with the deployment of first-person view drones and artillery. Reconnaissance from adjacent units detected the movement of Russian military equipment and personnel toward Ukrainian positions. After that, the crews of the heavy bomber drones “Lazari” engaged the enemy assets. Two Russian tanks were destroyed and another one was damaged as a result of the bombardment of the Russian position. Drone strikes by Lasar’s Group also wounded two Russian soldiers. The situation remains tense in the frontline, especially in eastern and southeastern directions such as Pokrovsk and Huliaipole sectors. Fierce engagements are ongoing around several key localities cited by Ukraine’s chief of armed forces: including Kupiansk, Lyman, Siversk, Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad.
