Ukraine has set a new world record on August 14, 2025, when a sniper from the Pryvid unit struck two Russian soldiers from a distance of 4,000 meters in Donetsk. The confirmed kill surpassed the previous record of 3,800 meters set in December 2023. The feat was achieved using a 14.5mm SnipeX Alligator rifle, with the aid of drones and artificial intelligence to guide precision fire.
Reports from Militarnyi and Euromaidan Press confirm the shot occurred between Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, two cities at the heart of ongoing battles. The Alligator rifle, in service since 2021, delivered the strike through the window of an occupied building. Footage shared by Yurii Butusov shows the moment the Ukrainian sniper fired multiple rounds before delivering the kill shot. The achievement highlights both Ukrainian innovation and the changing role of snipers on a battlefield dominated by drones.
