Marines of the Ukrainian Defense Forces drove the Russians out of the village of Zeleny Gai in the Novopavlovskoye direction. After this, the Ukrainian military carried out a clean-up operation and took control of the village. In addition, it is emphasized that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Bratstvo battalion cleared the village of Iskra from the occupiers.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers liberated the settlement of Tolstoy in the Donetsk region, located on the border with the Dnepropetrovsk region.
According to the OSGV "Dnepr", the attack on Tolstoy was carried out by fighters from the 5th separate heavy mechanized brigade. The attacking infantrymen were actively supported by drone crews. Thanks to their coordinated actions, the Ukrainian fighters managed to drive the enemy out of most of the settlement of Tolstoy. Tolstoy is part of the Volnovakha district of the Donetsk region. It is located near the administrative border of the Donetsk region with the Dnipropetrovsk region. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assigns Tolstoy to the Novopavlovsk direction.
The Novopavlovs direction is one of the "hottest" on the front. Russian occupiers are trying to reach the administrative border with the Dnepropetrovsk region in this area, in order to then attack other regions of Ukraine.
Recall, Ukraine claimed that it retook control of six settlements in the country’s eastern Donetsk region, where Moscow claimed to have made advances, as the ongoing war nears three-and-a-half years since it began.
A statement by Ukraine’s General Staff claimed that Ukrainian troops recaptured the villages of Hruzke, Rubizhne, Novovodiane, Petrivka, Vesele, and Zolotyi Kolodyaz following “joint actions” between Aug. 4-16. The invaders also lost a substantial amount of equipment and weaponry.
The statement further claimed that efforts to “stabilize” the front line near the city of Dobropillia continue, and that a group of Ukrainian forces “cleared” the city of Pokrovsk of Russian troops during the week.
Moscow has repeatedly claimed territorial gains in recent months, particularly in Donetsk, where fighting has intensified around Pokrovsk. The city serves as a critical logistics hub for Ukraine’s military operations in the region.
