Ukrainian National Guard and Border Guards Receive Unimog and Amarok Vehicles from Germany

German Foreign Minister Johannes Wadefull handed over a batch of Unimog and Amarok vehicles to the National Guard and border guards during a visit to Ukraine.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported this on June 30.

The vehicles will be used for logistical support of border guard units, as well as for the work of mobile fire groups that protect civilian and critical infrastructure, the Ministry said.

According to Julian Röpke, an analyst and journalist for the German media BILD, the batch includes 65 used Mercedes Unimog trucks for the State Border Guard Service and 10 brand new Volkswagen Amarok pickups for the National Guard.

During the handover ceremony, Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, expressed gratitude to Germany for its support.

He noted that the equipment would help to respond quickly to threats, protect critical infrastructure, counter enemy UAVs, and de-mining.

The Minister also thanked Berlin for its assistance in the field of radiation, chemical, and biological protection, as these means are vital, especially when dealing with the consequences of Russian attacks on industrial facilities.

For his part, German Foreign Minister Johannes Wadefull assured that his country is unwavering in its position and will continue to support Ukraine and provide the necessary assistance.
