United States Ordered .2 Billion Worth of GMLRS Missiles From Lockheed Martin

The U.S. Army has placed an additional order with Lockheed Martin for $4.23 billion worth of GMLRS precision-guided missiles.

This was reported by the US Department of Defense.

The additional order brings the total value of the original contract to $13.27 billion.

Under the terms of the agreement, Lockheed Martin will continue to manufacture GMLRS missiles until October 20th, 2027.

Specific locations and funding details will be determined by the Army Contracting Command-Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, for each individual order.

It should be noted that this is not the first contract modification. In September 2024, the company received a $3.43 billion contract for the production of GMLRS missiles.

In addition, in May 2025, two additional agreements were signed for a total of $553.4 million: $332.1 million for the production of GMLRS for the US Army and $221.2 million for the modernization of M270 systems to the M270A2 configuration for the US Army.

As a reminder, the U.S. Army has budgeted $1.2 billion in fiscal year 2025 (FY2025) for the purchase of approximately 6,400 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) precision guided missiles.

In addition, the US Marine Corps (USMC) has planned to purchase about 1,000 GMLRS missiles, while another 5,000 missiles are expected to be delivered to allies, including Finland, Italy and the United Kingdom, under foreign military sales (FMS) programs.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that the US defense industry would increase the production of GMLRS missiles for HIMARS and M270 to 19,002 per year.

Currently, 14,000 GMLRS missiles are being manufactured in the United States for HIMARS and M270 rocket launchers.

The new figure is to be reached in 2028 and 95,010 GMLRS missiles will be produced in 4 years.
