Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Friday his country will organize a European track on security guarantees at the level of leaders next week.
“Next week, a European track. I think we will organize it at the level of leaders, because some points need to be made regarding security guarantees. I want us to follow the same path, understand each other. Therefore, I think we will have several meetings at different venues,” Zelenskyy said during a briefing on Friday.
According to Associated Press he added that this week the Ukrainian team is working in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UAE, Switzerland and the USA.
The Ukrainian leader also stated that weapons for Ukraine’s armed forces are one of the key elements of international security guarantees for the country, structured along three tracks: domestic production, European manufacturing, and US supplies.
“The first track is our domestic production — drones, technologies and more. The second track is European production — air defenses, artillery and so on. The third track is American weapons. US weapons are delivered through a corridor called PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List), via NATO, as a financing mechanism,” Zelenskyy told reporters.
He added that other security guarantees include stable funding for Ukraine’s military, NATO’s Article 5-style commitments, and sanctions and frozen Russian assets that could be used for Ukraine’s recovery.
