19-year-old Marine extradited to Colorado, suspected of sexual exploitation of children

DENVER (KDVR) — A 19-year-old U.S. Marine was extradited to Arapahoe County and is facing multiple charges related to sexual exploitation of children, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Justin Ryder Simmons, 19, was arrested on June 16 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in San Diego and extradited to Arapahoe County on June 27. Investigators say that Simmons was sexually exploiting children through the internet.

Investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit are now asking the public for help in locating more victims.

Simmons allegedly used the Snapchat username of “simmonsj6842” and phone number 970-308-5998 to contact victims. According to an arrest affidavit, at least one victim was 14 years old. The arrest affidavit shows multiple conversations where Simmons sought sexual favors in exchange for vapes. It’s unclear if any of those exchanges were actually made.

He was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility on a $25,000 bond, and is no longer in custody, according to the sheriff’s office.

Simmons is facing two counts of sexual exploitation of a child – induce/entice, one count of sexual exploitation of a child – possession of child sexual abuse material, and two counts of internet sexual exploitation of a child.

The case remains open and active.
