ELGIN, Ill. — Several people were shot during a family gathering in unincorporated Elgin.
The shooting happened just after midnight Sunday in the the 8N500 block of Gingerwood Lane.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the residence for a report of shots fired inside the home.
Police said residents were having a gathering with several dozen family members. Shortly before shots were fired, several family members and acquaintances engaged in a physical altercation outside of the house, then moved inside the house where it continued.
The fighting persisted and an offender began firing gun shots inside the house.
A 70-year-old man, a 36-year-old man, and a 21-year-old woman were shot. The victims were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries and are in stable condition.
No one is in custody at this time. An investigation is underway.
