WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — As temperatures climbed to the 100s on Monday, D.C. first responders said six people were taken to the hospital with heat-related illnesses following a concert at Nationals Park.
It all happened on June 23, near the Navy Yard and Ball Park area, where the Stray Kids World Tour took place at the stadium.
The DC Fire and EMS Department said that before the concert began, medics took one person to the hospital to be treated for a heat-related illness.
However, at the end of the concert, around 11 p.m., DCFD’s Mass Casualty Task Force responded to the area for the report of multiple heat-related illnesses. Officials noted that an additional five were taken to the hospital for treatment.
These incidents came as a heat wave settled across the region Monday. Scorching temperatures hit 100 degrees; however, the heat index value went up to 110 degrees.
DC News Now has reached out to the Nationals Park stadium for a statement, but has not yet heard back.
